Hemmels Cardiff

July 28, 2017

Located in Cardiff, Hemmels are independent custodians of vintage Mercedes-Benz cars, specialising in restoring classic Mercedes such as the W113 Padoga or 300SL to the highest quality for worldwide enthusiasts.

With some cars worth in excess of £200k, and high-profile celebrity clients, Hemmels required an integrated security system to protect the very beautiful and high-value vintage sports cars they house across two sites – the showroom and bodyshop.

The Solution
Hemmels’ commitment to perfection is something which had to be reflected in the security solution provided, so - working in partnership with J-Sec - Oprema was proud to provide a high-quality, bespoke IP CCTV system, intruder alarm and video intercom, delivering an integrated, reliable solution to protect Hemmels’ high-value assets.

The system features 16 Dahua CCTV cameras installed inside and out at the main showroom, and an additional 8 cameras around the bodyshop building, located down the road. Dahua IP Bullet Cameras cover the external areas of the showroom and the bodyshop, and Dahua Wedge Cameras - with audio capabilities - are present inside the showroom. All cameras across the two sites wirelessly transmit information to the main office located in the showroom building, where images and audio can be monitored from this one central area. The CCTV is networked, so it can also be viewed remotely anywhere in the world, via smartphone, tablet or any internet connected device.

A grade 3 Pyronix intruder alarm was also installed to cover both buildings. In the event of a security breach, the alarm alerts the Police and keyholders. Entry to the showroom is controlled using an access control system – the Paxton Net2 - with the front door always kept locked and access only granted via the CDVI video intercom unit. A separate monitor located in the office is linked to the Paxton Net2, providing a live video and audio feed.

The Result
The networked, integrated system allows operations across the two premises to be monitored from one central area, or remotely from any internet connected device anywhere in the world, providing peace of mind to Hemmels and their customers that their beautiful classic Mercedes are in safe hands.

“We were initially approached by Hemmels to provide a high-quality CCTV system, primarily to monitor the valuable vintage Mercedes they have across their two sites. The brief expanded to include an integrated CCTV system, intruder alarm and video intercom to provide additional security and protection, with all products supplied through Oprema. Working with Oprema is always fantastic; they understand our needs - and those of our end client - and are able to deliver products at a reasonable price, arriving on time and in good working order. In the next couple of months Hemmels is opening a showroom in Palm Springs, California, so we’re hoping to work with Oprema again to secure Hemmels’ new premises across the pond.”
